Description: This renovation project showcases innovative terracotta-red solar tiles with monocrystalline silicon cells, seamlessly integrated into the roof of a historic farmhouse in Ecuvillens, Fribourg, Switzerland. Located in a conservation area where traditional roof-mounted photovoltaic modules are prohibited, these solar tiles provide a discreet yet efficient renewable energy solution. Despite their heritage-friendly design, they are expected to generate 28 MWh of clean energy per year, delivering only 20% less output than conventional PV panels while maintaining the building’s aesthetic integrity.
